Upon the invitation extended by Dr. Tevfik Turnali, the director of the Plant protection research institute Bornova-Izmir, operating under the Republic of Turkiye's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the management of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, University of Sarajevo, actively participated in a working meeting on November 16, 2023. The first segment of the meeting involved a detailed exploration of the institute's operational scope and a comprehensive overview of its activities since its establishment, which laid the groundwork for a broader discussion encompassing various aspects as the session unfolded.
Prof. Dr. Muhamed Brka took the opportunity
to familiarize the attendees with the ongoing initiatives at the Faculty of
Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Sarajevo, Highlighting the
synchronized strategic orientation of both institutions. Subsequently, Prof.
Dr. Jasmin Grahić presented to the institute's personnel an innovative online
development platform named "AgroMonitor." This platform, crafted by
experts from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, is designed to facilitate
the creation and implementation of cutting-edge solutions within
agroecosystems. "AgroMonitor" serves as a decision support system
tailored for agricultural producers and advisory services, offering solutions
related to predicting plant diseases and pests, addressing general irrigation
needs, and formulating fertilization plans for diverse farm crops.
In a collaborative spirit, the meeting concluded with the commitment to jointly invest efforts and establish a mechanism for implementing the "AgroMonitor" platform in the regions of the Republic of Turkey falling under the purview of the Plant protection research institute Bornova-Izmir.
