Representatives from the
Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Sarajevo
participated in the 1st consortium meeting of the HORIZONT project BAUHAUS BITES: Positive Food Environments Fortified with
Nature-Based Solutions and New European Bauhaus, held in Fundão,
Portugal, from June 10th to 13th, 2025.

This event brought together
partners to continue working on multiple tasks and deliverables planned within
the project, with a particular focus on developing action plans to set
initiatives that will transform urban food environments.

Fundão are implementing a wide range of inspiring, innovative, and
community-based initiatives—all aligned with the city’s strategy and its goal
to make the region more attractive and improve quality of life for all.
Highlights
from Fundão:
PICNIC & CHERRY TREE
SPONSORSHIP
Becoming the Godfather or Godmother of a Fundão cherry tree is more than a
symbolic gesture—it’s a hands-on contribution to ecological regeneration. By
sponsoring a tree, you participate in the cycle of planting, nurturing, and
eventually harvesting some of the world’s finest cherries ????,
while supporting biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.
Quinta Ciência Viva das Cerejas e
das Ideias
At this innovative space, curiosity flourishes alongside cherry trees. It
blends science, education, and technology, inviting visitors to explore
interactive learning trails and experiment with cutting-edge agricultural
techniques in an experimental cherry orchard. Here, tradition meets the future,
and every visit is an opportunity to witness scientific discovery in
action—flavored with the sweetness of cherries.
Co-Creating Public Spaces for a
Sustainable Future
Students are at the forefront of designing the Fundão Food Lab, integrating New
European Bauhaus principles and Nature-Based Solutions. Their proposals aim to
enhance urban resilience and sustainability by envisioning a space that
champions local, healthy, and sustainable food practices. The Fundão Food Lab
will serve as a vibrant hub for community engagement and cultural exchange,
advancing both scientific and social innovation.
