Albania stands at a historic threshold. As an EU accession candidate, the country is in the process of transforming its agricultural, food and environmental systems to meet European standards - a challenge shared by neighbouring candidate countries in the Western Balkans and beyond.
The 16th CASEE Conference, “Next Stop Europe: Shaping the Future of Agriculture and Life Sciences Education”, brings together academics, researchers, doctoral students and policymakers from across Central and South-Eastern Europe to examine how universities can lead this transformation.
Hosted by the Agricultural University of Tirana, the conference will explore nine thematic areas including sustainable agriculture, food systems, biotechnology, rural development and the role of digital innovation. A dedicated session will address EU accession-related developments in Albania and other candidate countries, with presentations targeting specific negotiation chapters.
The conference welcomes oral and poster presentations from academic staff, researchers and PhD students.
Abstract submission deadline: April 23, 2026.

of this additional time and submit their contributions to become part of the
scientific exchange on the future of agriculture and life sciences education in
