Following a successful working visit to the
Municipality of Bugojno, representatives of the University of Sarajevo (Faculty
of Agriculture and Food Sciences and Faculty of Forestry) continued field
activities within the SUS-SOIL project (Horizon Europe 2024–2028) in the
Municipality of Ilidža. Like Bugojno and Živinice, Ilidža is one of the local
communities included in the Bosnian and Herzegovinian SUS-SOIL Living Lab.
The aim of the visit was to survey and
identify sampling locations for soil collection planned for the spring of 2026,
followed by analyses of the physical and chemical properties of the soil.
During the field reconnaissance, 32 locations were confirmed, and data were
collected on land ownership, geographic coordinates, spatial characteristics,
and vegetation cover. All locations were documented through photographs and
accompanying records.
The visit included the following
participants:
– from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food
Sciences, University of Sarajevo: Prof. Dr. Sabrija Čadro, Prof. Dr. Mirza
Tvica, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Musić (Innovation Broker), and Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Emina Sijahović;
– from the Faculty of Forestry, University
of Sarajevo: Prof. Dr. Dženan Bećirović and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bruno Marić.
The visit was also attended by Selver
Vreto, representing the Municipality of Ilidža, who provided valuable support
in coordination and data collection in the field.
This visit represents a continuation of the SUS-SOIL project activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and contributes to developing a comprehensive understanding of soil degradation processes.
